At the start of the month the NHS celebrated it’s 70th Birthday and many NHS practices across the country held tea parties to celebrate this milestone Birthday. It was a lovely idea to get staff, retired staff, volunteers, patients, users, carers and local community groups together for a cuppa and to share their NHS stories.
Devon Heaven was luck enough to be asked to provide an afternoon tea for 100 NHS practices across the country. Practices ranged in size from 10 people to 200 people which lead to a huge number of scones being sent out – 3,400 to be exact! Also included in the afternoon tea packages were 1,100 packets Teoni’s cookies and shortbread biscuits. All of this needed to be dispatched on a single day so that it could arrive on the actual Birthday of 5th July. The tricky part is that cream / afternoon tea hampers can’t be packed in advance due to the nature of the product so it was all hands to the deck. It was a great team effort and we’re very lucky to have staff willing to be flexible by starting work very early on the Wednesday to ensure that every single scone was sent on time.
Our courier DPD were great, sending three vans to collect the parcels on the Wednesday and delivering everything by midday on Thursday so that the afternoon teas could be enjoyed at lunchtime or as a traditional mid-afternoon treat.
Morning Delivery Now Available To All
In the past we haven’t offered a morning delivery option when buying cream tea hampers through the website (only doing them on special request as they were quite expensive). However, we’ve subsequently received a better price for them from our courier so have made AM delivery available for all our cream and afternoon tea hampers for £10 extra (excluding Scottish Highlands/Lowlands, Northern Ireland and any other Islands). It’s nice to have the reassurance that the afternoon tea hampers will be able to be enjoyed over lunchtime particularly when sending them to offices or when having them arrive on the date of a special occasion such as a Birthday or family gathering.
