2. Bovey Castle, North Bovey

Bovey Castle, set in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, was named ‘one of the top six places to have afternoon tea in the UK’ by Red Magazine. Enjoy warm scones, delicate finger sandwiches, delicious homemade cakes and a selection of teas in the dining room or on the terrace overlooking the gardens. 3. Badgers Holt, Dartmeet

Once an old fishing lodge, Badgers Holt nestles at the foot of Yar Tor, at the famous beauty spot where the east and west tributaries of the River Dart meet. Badgers Holt specialises in Devonshire cream teas, with a secret scone recipe exclusive to the restaurant for over 60 years, making them an easy pick for our devon cream tea best 50 list. They also offer homemade traditional fruit, cheese and gluten free scones. If you fancy lunch, there are plenty of good value savoury options available. After your meal, why not take a picturesque walk along a footpath that follows the East River Dart.
4. Tor Royal, Princetown

Tor Royal is a homely bed and breakfast set in a beautiful Grade II-listed building. It sits in an unspoilt region of Dartmoor, where War Horse was filmed. Their High Tea consists of dainty sandwiches, scones and a selection of cakes and fancies. The price for a full High Tea is £14PP and can be booked for a specific date through their website, although you may need to call for Mothers Day bookings.
5. The Old Forge Cafe and Restaurant, Chagford

The Old Forge is a beautiful converted blacksmith’s forge in the heart of Chagford serving the highest quality local and homemade food and drink whether it’s for lunch, dinner or afternoon tea. Cream teas are £5.75 and come with two large homemade scones, local clotted cream, award-winning local strawberry jam, and a pot of loose-leaf tea or coffee of your choice. They also offer a number of full afternoon tea options starting from £18 for two people.
